Questions people ask first

Is this training for my animal?

No. This work is for you. Most programs treat the human and most veterinary care treats the animal; Paws in the Elements treats the relationship between them, because that is where both the problem and the healing actually live. Your animal's response is not the goal — it is the evidence that something has shifted.

Does my own state really affect my animal?

A dysregulated nervous system does not stay private. It broadcasts — into your relationships, your environment, and the animal who shares your daily life and mirrors your internal state back to you with startling clarity. Your animal is not broken. They are reflecting.

I do not have the bandwidth for this right now. My animal needs me. Is this the wrong time?

Caring for everyone else from an empty vessel is not devotion. It is depletion. Rest is not something earned once everyone else has been handled; it is what makes presence possible in the first place. Giving from empty does not serve the giver or the receiver.

I have tried other programs and nothing stuck. What is different here?

This work does not hand you another thing to try. It begins with somatic awareness — learning to read your own body signals first, rather than thinking your way into regulation. It is built on small daily practice rather than a single breakthrough, because the change you are looking for is built in ordinary days, not extraordinary ones.

What are the Five Elements, and is this a wellness trend?

The Five Elements are a framework from traditional Chinese medicine — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water — for understanding how energy moves, where it stagnates, and what restores balance across the whole being. They are not an aesthetic overlay. This is ancient intelligence applied to a modern nervous system.

Does this replace veterinary care?

No. Paws in the Elements is somatic coaching for the human in the relationship. It does not diagnose or treat your animal, it does not replace veterinary care, and it is not a substitute for medical or psychological care for you.
